Academic Programs
Career-Technical Programs
BUSINESS -TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY-The design of the
Business/Administrative/Computer Technology program is a three-four year
program.Participation in the Business/Computer Technology academy will
lead to industry certificatios such as Microsoft Office Suite Certification,
Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver Web design certification after successful
completion of the program. EARLY CHILDHOOD ACADEMY-The Early Childhood program design is currently a four-year program. Participation in this program
can lead to industry certification after successful completion of the four-year
program and passing the required six competency exams. The Early Childhood programs
provide course credit which can be transferred to the respective programs at
Miami Dade College.
HEALTH SCIENCE ACADEMY-The program design of the Nursing Assistant program is
currently an intensive four-year program Participation in the Certified Nursing
Assistant program track that will lead to industry certification after successful
completion of the program and passing the CNA exam. Students begin their
journey with enrollment in the Medical Skills courses, followed by Health
Science 1, Health Science 2, and Nursing Assistant 3.
Language Arts
The goal of the English-Language Arts department at Dorothy M. Wallace COPE Center is to develop college-career ready students that are effective communicators. The Florida Standards Curriculum encourages teachers to use a balance of complex fiction and non-fiction texts in the classroom to become better readers, and college-career ready.
Social Studies
Students at COPE are provided with a quality education that prepares them to be productive members of society with a working knowledge of World History, United States History, U.S. Government and Economic Literacy as it relates to current socio-economic and social issues in our global community.
Mathematics
Dorothy M. Wallace COPE Center is committed to teaching mathematics based on the Florida Standards in Mathematics Standards, which demand that students have solid conceptual understanding, a high degree of procedural skill and fluency, and the ability to apply the math they know to solve real life problems.
Science
The science instructors at COPE are also committed to facilitating conceptual science Standards, in which teachers incorporate literacy in science practices to help students incorporate reading, writing, and scientific inquiry that also incorporates applying thinking skills to address real life problems and making informed decisions.
