The goal of the English-Language Arts/Social Studies department at Dorothy M. Wallace COPE Center is to develop college-career ready students that are effective communicators .  As we transition to the Common Core State Standards, the Common Core encourages teachers to use a balance of complex fiction and non-fiction texts in the classroom to become better readers, and college-career ready.  .Students at COPE will also be provided with  a quality education that prepares them to be productive members of society with a working knowledge of history as it relates to current socio-economic and social issues in our global community.
